Watch out, English speaker

English speakers often want to use 'is at' for percentages, but Spanish uses 'estar al' + number + %. For example, 'Las reservas están al 73%' means 'Reserves are at 73%,' not 'are the 73%.' Remember the contraction 'al' (a + el) and the definite article before the percentage. In English, we say 'twice as much as' or 'double that of,' but Spanish uses 'el doble que' + noun/clause. For instance, 'Es el doble que en junio' means 'It is double that of June' or 'twice as much as in June.' Don't forget the article 'el' and the conjunction 'que'; omitting them leads to errors like 'es doble que' or 'es el doble de'.

Why is the Strait of Hormuz important?
