DELE A2 Reading Practice

The DELE A2 exam's reading comprehension (comprensión lectora) asks you to handle short authentic texts — ads, schedules, messages, notices, and simple articles — fast and accurately. Passing means reading everyday Spanish without stopping to translate. The most reliable way to build that is daily reading at exactly A2 level: real texts, graded so you understand 95%, with audio for every word.

What the A2 reading exam looks like

The comprensión lectora paper gives you several short tasks with matching questions, and the texts are everyday-functional: a WhatsApp-style message, a sign at the doctor's office, a small ad for an apartment, a short news note. The skills are scanning for specific information, understanding instructions, and catching attitude (Is this an invitation? A warning? A complaint?).

Our A2 articles train the same muscle with longer material: every story is real Spanish news rewritten at A2 — short sentences, everyday vocabulary, present and past tenses — and every article includes listening support, because the A2 exam's audio paper rewards readers who already know how the words sound.

A 4-week plan to exam-ready reading

  1. Weeks 1–2: one article a day. Read without a dictionary. Star words you can't guess, then tap them for the gloss and example sentence.
  2. Weeks 3–4: add speed. Skim for the main idea in 30 seconds before reading, then answer: who, what, where, why? Replay the audio while re-reading once.
  3. Every day: clear your flashcards. Starred words return on a 1/3/7-day schedule. A vocabulary of ~2,000 words covers essentially all A2 reading — the wordbook gets you there deliberately.

Many A2 candidates fail the reading paper not on vocabulary but on time: they translate instead of reading. Daily graded reading is precisely the antidote — your brain learns to process Spanish directly.

Frequently asked questions

Is this official DELE A2 material?+

No. These are our own daily A2-graded readings adapted from real Spanish news, designed to build the reading ability the DELE A2 measures. They're ideal daily training alongside official preparation: for authentic sample papers (pruebas de examen), use the Instituto Cervantes exam portal and its published model exams as your benchmark.

How many words do I need for DELE A2 reading?+

Around 1,500–2,000 words covers the everyday texts in the A2 reading paper comfortably. With daily articles you typically meet 30–60 new words per reading; starring and reviewing the ones that matter will build the exam vocabulary in a few weeks.

Is DELE A2 reading hard?+

For someone who has never read Spanish texts start-to-finish, it feels hard because of the time limit and unfamiliar formats. The language itself is everyday Spanish. Learners who read A2-level material daily for a month usually find the exam paper comfortably within reach.

Can I use this on my phone before the exam?+

Yes — every article, the audio player, tap-to-translate, and the flashcard wordbook work in the mobile browser, so you can get a reading session in on the train or in the waiting room.
